Alex Afrasiabi (alias Furor/Foror), Iranian-American, is an employee of Blizzard Entertainment, where he works as a quest designer for the game World of Warcraft.

History

Alex was once leader of a famous Everquest guild named Fires of Heaven (now a World of Warcraft guild). His first character in EQ, Kalaran, a rogue, was the first level 50 in EQ. Alex is supposedly still an avid player and guild leader in World of Warcraft.

As Fires of Heaven were well known for achieving many "world first" accomplishments in Everquest, the guild was asked upon the release of World of Warcraft to not be the first to kill Onyxia. Blizzard felt too many people would think they had inside knowledge if they continued this achievement trend in WoW. It stands to reason this 'suggestion' is still in effect, as they have tended to wait before tackling new content too quickly. Though they progress quickly once they have started.

As a consequence to his fame, Alex has been forced to play incognito.

In-game references

There exist many references to Alex within the game world of World of Warcraft: Field Marshal Afrasiabi - a quest giver in Stormwind, N [60] The Great Fras Siabi - a quest in the Eastern Plaguelands.

One of the characters Alex has played, Kariel, is also referenced across the world of Azeroth. Pathstalker Kariel is a Rogue trainer in the zone Eversong Woods, inside Dire Maul players can find the Skeletal Remains of Kariel Winthalus, who can be found referenced to in many libram around the world, Libram of Rapidity is an example.

Another frequent reference to Alex is Foror, this can be found in items like Foror's Compendium of Dragon Slaying, or Autographed Picture of Foror & Tigule. (...more).

In Everquest, Alex played as the rogue Karalan. A reference within World of Warcraft can be found in Searing Gorge as the quest-giving NPC Karalan Windblade.

The item Peep's Whistle has a direct reference to Alex's first name in the flavor text.
