− | Astranaar, aka Astrannar, is a night elven town situated on the east-west road that divides Ashenvale in two. 36 Like the Redridge Mountains and Duskwood regions in the Eastern Kingdoms, Ashenvale is often attacked by Horde as it is one of the first-tier contested zones for the Alliance. However, the danger is two-fold since Ashenvale houses two Horde towns, one in the Zoram Strand and the other to the east at Splintertree Post. Exercise extreme caution around Astranaar. When questing, set your hearthstone to the inn whenever feasible in order to avoid having to dodge groups of Horde who like to gather a short distance away from the town in preparation to raid it. Since the Cataclysm, all Alliance players arriving into Astranaar will find it in flames, attacked by Horde wind riders. Completing Astranaar's Burning! and Return Fire will cause both to phase out. |

Issues
There is a known bug as of patch 4.1 in which the mobs needed to complete the quest will either not phase in at all, or completely disappear if the player tries to enter the town. Blizzard claims that this is a known issue that is being looked into.
A workaround involves killing a lone guard that stands near the Sorrow Hill side bridge with a controllable pet (either a Hunter pet, a Warlock demon, or a Mage's Water Elemental) to attack it (it will phase out if you go past the archway from Sorrow Hill for any reason). Afterwards, the player must wait for this mob to respawn.
